On the other hand, to motivate those workers who have work lengthy period and over work for the organization, the CPU management can motivate this group by adopting a strategy that follows the sequence of: The CPU management should let the lengthy period and over worked employees know that the company value their stay in the organization and appreciate their contribution to the growth of the organization. They should be made to know they stand to be adequately rewarded. STRATEGIC ALLIANCE FORMATION WITH OTHER INTENSIVE CARE AND FACILITY PROVIDING ORGANIZATION The major reason for the workers leaving the CPU Company within short period is adduced to the lack of amenities to contribute to workers convenience in working for the company. The locality where the company is situated lacks these basic amenities. The management of CPU can enter into strategic alliance by inviting and forming strategic partners with small organizations to provide basic services that the workers lack, such as children day-care services, security, inter-alia. Dear Mayor, Being the Chief of Police for Los Angeles, I am strongly concerned at improving all the records, and the manner of using and accessing them.   With this goal, I propose computerization of all the police records as the new system.   Efforts towards computerization of all the police records must start early at this point, considering the fact that other data have been computerized already. In the information age, advanced technology can be taken advantage of without encountering significant risks.   Many businesses have already relied on computerization, such as banks, stores, libraries, and other companies that have complex business processes.   This fact has proven the advantages of computerizing all the records. Maintaining law and order is a difficult and has different aspects.   Despite that, several tasks involved in police offices are still routinary or can still be optimized further.   These tasks, being performed repetitively, are prone to human error, more so when workers are already exposed to long working hours and under psychological fatigue.   On the other hand, unintentional mistakes could have been avoided with the help of automation. In addition, instead of investing on personnel just to maintain records, human efforts could be focused on more important aspects in the government.   Instead of assigning people to perform tasks that a computer can do faster and more accurately, computers can be purchased in place of workers that must be paid every month. Details on fugitives, arrest records, warrants, missing persons, stolen property, and alerts relative to terrorism threats must be easily accessible to the police, so the fastest manner of updating, storing, and accessing data is preferred.   To answer this concern, a database is an appropriate option because it is where data can be stored and then be arranged easily and conveniently. The view of the data may be organized; irrelevant details may be hidden from the view of a certain user who is performing a certain task only, so that searching is more efficient and more secure.   Databases are used in many applications, spanning almost the entire range of computer software.   They are the preferred method of storage for large applications with many users. Databases can be managed more easily than analog data (such as card catalogs).   Moreover, since the data that are usually recorded on paper would be converted to electronic data, data loss and dilapidation is not a significant problem anymore.   In digital format, copies may be made without sacrificing quality, unlike copying analog data (e.g., using photocopiers).   Data can also be maintained more easily in digital format. In addition to speed, accuracy is also a good asset of having computerized records.   If the data are standardized and more centralized, redundancy is avoided.   Since transparency is increased through the computerization of police records, confusion can be avoided. Read also: â€Å"Co Curricular Activities Letter† Moreover, only authorized people can access sensitive data.   Security levels must be set in the computer system.   When police records are already computerized, information would not pass to many people only to deliver information to one person because the transaction can be made through machines and would therefore ensure privacy further. High overall efficiency may be achieved if the computerization of police records is implemented properly.   Moreover, if the relevant data are more accessible, tasks will be performed faster and more efficiently.   Trends may be studied and demography can easily be obtained using statistical methods and easily if data is centralized and consistent, so conducting criminal investigations would also be faster. Developing specialized software may be expensive, but the same computer program is used to all the police stations, and it may be used for a long time.   If some aspects of the electronic election process must be enhanced in the future, the existing system can be used as a foundation instead of starting everything from scratch.   Therefore, the cost of labor (in terms of time, energy, and money) is reduced in the long run. Before implementing the electronic system, studies must be thoroughly conducted regarding the effectiveness of the system in real scenarios, risks involved in implementation, and the cost and benefits.   Interested university students who have the relevant background may be encouraged to participate in conducting the research. Like any method of keeping records, computerized records are still susceptible to fraud.   However, considering the fact that the processes are standardized and centralized, errors and fraud attempts are detected more easily. Computer networks may be used as a medium, but the system must protect itself against identity theft and vandalism.   To minimize the potential negative impact of this new system, standards must be established, and more laws against computer crimes and breach of security must be strengthened.   The private information can be encrypted before being sent, and decrypted after being received at the other end.   Both the encryption and decryption algorithms can be performed conveniently using the software. Because of this move to computerization, one of the basic goals must be to ensure that every division/section in the police department is equipped with computers.   However, security requirements must still be tightened, and the access levels of the police must depend on his position and his scope of responsibilities.   These measures would avoid unauthorized access to sensitive data. Only the data that must be seen by the public.   The system must also allow citizens â€Å"to easily access and obtain several types of documentation, such as information on tainted vehicles, information on tainted firearms, domestic servant verification, and instant passport verification.† (â€Å"National Crime Records Bureau†, 2007). This method of storing data into digital format is not less secure than analog data. Both methods are susceptible to breach privacy, and true data security can only be achieved if everyone involved in the process have maintained their integrity as a person as they develop solutions to update and maintain the records, and the solution implemented is complex enough to be deciphered by hackers. This proposal is a good starting point to let the police and the people realize the benefits of automated systems.   Aside from the aforementioned benefits of computerization of police records, other benefits that may seem less obvious at this point will certainly be useful. Harnessing and exchange of information on criminal operating in neighboring states would be more plausible as soon as other states have also decided to strive for computerization of police records.   In the future, having a reliable police record may even provide room for other important transactions such as electronic voting.   Hence, continuing studies must still be conducted to further improve the service of the government to the people. We must start the process of standardizing the way the criminal records are maintained across the state, in order to allow efficient sharing of information and facilitating greater coordination to the higher level. In fact, man was given the responsibility of naming all the creatures that were cre ated by God. Man was also given the responsibility for the Garden of Eden and was allowed all the freedom but denied eating the fruit of wisdom. All this story line of creation emphasizes that existence of human beings solely takes a religious dimension. The other explanation of existence such as spiritual and scientific amongst others do not explain some issues, which I believe are important in human existence. For instance, they don’t explain the sacred life of a human being (Swimme & Tucker, 2011). In the scientific explanation of existence, man is told to have evolved from the Ape species and having undergone various steps of evolution, he reached the stage of the current man whose predecessor is Homo sapiens sapiens. In the whole evolution story, the holiness of man is not explained at all. What the entire story gives is that man gained experience after each evolutional phase. Everybody in the Universe can witness the specialty of human beings in deeds, beliefs and innov ations. Allegory in Lord of the Flies Essay In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, which is set during World War II, English school boys, escaping war in England, crash on a deserted tropical island. From the protected environment of boarding school, the boys are suddenly thrust into a situation where they must fend for themselves. In order to survive, the boys copy their country’s rule for a civilized life by electing a leader, Ralph. He promises order, discipline, and rules for the boys so that they form a small civilized society. This civilized society does not last. Struggling with Jack who wants to be the leader and the boys’ fears of the unknown, Ralph is unable to maintain control, and the boys fulfill Golding’s perspective that human nature is inherently negative as the boys become savages that brutally and viciously kill. Golding creates an allegory by using symbols to show his pessimistic view of human nature through the boys’ desire for civilization, their struggle against evil, and their descent into savagery. Golding develops the allegory using symbols of the boys’ desire for civilization. Leadership and reasoning are represented by the symbols of Ralph and the conch and Piggy and his glasses. Finding a conch on the beach, Ralph uses it to keep law and order or peace among the boys. â€Å"Ralph grasped the idea and hit the shell with air from his diaphragm. Immediately the thing sounded† (15). Blowing into the conch, Ralph assembles the boys for meetings. He uses the conch to promote fair play by passing it around so that each boy has the opportunity to speak freely and express himself. â€Å"I’ll give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it when he’s speaking† (39). Ralph represents the order that is necessary in a civilized society, and the conch is the means by which he establishes this order. In addition to establishing order, Ralph organizes the boys into separate groups like hunters, gatherers, and shelter makers to aid the survival of the group giving more evidence of his leadership abilities. Ralph delegates one responsibility to Jack making him in charge of the hunters. Although the boys would prefer to have fun and play games, they follow Ralph’s rules at first. This order is maintained until Ralph loses his leadership role to Jack. After providing, or bribing, the boys with juicy pig meat, Jack asks â€Å"’Who’ll join my tribe and have fun? ’† (211). This lure of enjoyment along with the promise of more food sways the boys to follow Jack. With the demise of Ralph’s leadership and under the leadership of Jack, the boys begin to turn towards savagery. From this point on, the change in the leadership brings with it the transformation of the boys from ordered society to savages. Through the downfall of Ralph’s leadership and the resulting descent into savagery, Golding is able to reveal how the dark side of human nature can prevail. Golding’s character Piggy portrays the voice of reasoning and logic and his glasses symbolize his wisdom. Ralph recognizes Piggy’s ability to think with clarity and soon depends upon him in his role as leader. Piggy’s idea to use the conch to assemble all the survivors leads to Ralph’s election as leader. Ralph uses Piggy’s ideas for building shelter and Piggy’s glasses to ignite the signal fire. â€Å"Ralph moved the lenses back and forth, this way and that, till a glossy white image of the declining sun lay on a piece of the rotten wood† (30). Golding shows his pessimistic view of human nature as Piggy, whose ideas and logical thoughts have been so important to the boys’ survival, becomes irrational. Once the voice of reason, Piggy refuses to accept his role in the death of Simon. The destruction and loss of his glasses destroys Piggy’s ability to see clearly and decreases his ability to influence the actions of the group. Upon an attack, Piggy, who once refused to believe in the beast, thinks Jack is the beast and cries out â€Å"’It’s come! ’ gasped Piggy. ‘It’s real! † (233). Piggy continues to believe the group of boys will respond to logic when he asks them if it is better to be like savages and kill or to have order and be rescued. The boys remain silent when Roger pushes a big rock on Piggy to kill him. â€Å"Piggy, saying nothing, with no time for even a grunt, traveled through the air sideways from the rock, turning over as he went† (255-256). With the death of Piggy, who was the icon of reasoning, Golding shows that the dark side of human nature triumphs over reasoning and rational thinking. Golding extends the allegory by exploring the boys’ struggle against evil with the beast symbolizing the boys’ fears of evil and Jack as the symbol of the lure of evil. At one of their first meetings, the boys discuss their predicament with optimism that they will soon be rescued, and until that time, they will enjoy the freedom of the island. One of the smallest boys is urged by his peers to come forward to speak and asks reluctantly what will be done about the beast. The others laugh at him until he describes the beast as a big, snakelike creature that comes in the dark wanting to eat him. Ralph tries to dismiss the boy’s ideas as merely a nightmare, but the crowd did not completely believe him. â€Å"The eyes that looked so intently at him were without humor† (44). This moment plants the seeds of fear in the boys’ hearts that will later unleash their inner savage. Ralph returns to the topic of the beast at another meeting in hopes of calming the worries that began with the littluns and spread throughout the group. At this meeting Jack takes the conch and attempts to convince the boys again that the beast is just in their imagination. â€Å"’The thing is – fear can’t hurt you any more than a dream’† (110). Even Piggy speaks up to say that there is nothing such as the beast to be afraid of in the forest until he has the realization: â€Å"’Unless we get frightened of people. ’† (113). Golding’s development of the boys’ fears using the beast shows the struggle of humans with their inner selves and the evil that lies within. Golding creates the character Jack as a catalyst for the allegory by his luring of the boys into the evilness of savagery. When Jack first attempts to kill a pig, he hesitates because he still belongs to the civilization he left when the plane crashed. The pause was only long enough for them to understand what an enormity the downward stroke would be† (35). At this point, Jack changes. He loses the sense of self that resists the lure of evil and begins his descent to his dark side. â€Å"He snatched his knife out of the sheath and slammed it into a tree trunk. Next time there would be no mercy† (35-36). Jack becomes obsessed with hunting and works to perfect his weapons and his stealth. Jack dons a mask that frees him from his self-consciousness and shame creating a new person ready to kill. Jack takes some boys with him and kills a pig. When they returned, all are chanting â€Å"’Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood. ’† (90). Jack transforms the young boys from innocent children to violent killers. Golding uses Jack to lure the others to evil and awaken their inner savage instincts. Golding’s allegory is further developed by his description of the boys’ descent into savagery symbolized by the deaths of the pig and Piggy. Golding shows Roger’s descent into savagery when Roger, excited and blood thirsty, begins a brutal attack on the pig. He plunged his spear into the pig and â€Å"began to push down with all his weight. The spear moved forward inch by inch and the terrified squealing became a high pitched scream† (189). Roger’s sense of elation derived from killing the pig makes him want more blood. Roger delves deeper into savagery as he takes the life of a fellow human being. No longer killing just for survival, Roger finds satisfaction in the death of Piggy. â€Å"Roger, with a sense of delirious abandonment, leaned all his weight on the lever† (255). Crushing Piggy with the rock, Roger silences Piggy forever. With Piggy’s death, Roger has committed murder, the ultimate crime. Lord of the Flies is an allegorical novel in which Golding uses the symbols of the conch, Piggy’s glasses, the beast, Jack, and Roger to reveal his views that human nature is innately evil. Through the boys’ desire for civilization, their struggle against evil, and their descent into savagery, Golding portrays humankind as civilized only on the surface with evil lurking just beneath. Report On Kelkars Report And Committee AOGO Renowned economist Dr. Vijay Kelkar, whos been the secretary (oil and finance) in the past, has repeated verbatim a privately commissioned report that lobbies for big corporates including Reliance, in his latest report on the hydrocarbon sector called Roadmap for reduction in import dependency in Hydrocarbon sector by 2030. The Kelkar report, submitted to the petroleum ministry in January 2014, has lifted verbatim material from an Association of Oil and Gas Operators (AOGO) report. AOGO represents the group of oil and gas explorers which has interest in the Indian hydrocarbon sector, including private as well as government companies. Among its members is Reliance Industries, which is the operator of the controversial KGD6 basin natural gas block. Dna picked up nine such cut and paste instances in the Kelkar report, some of which are quoted below. The AOGO, in its report, vouched for having Production Sharing Contract (PSC) regime for the Indian oil gas sector. The Kelkar Committee, in its report, espouses the recommendation of AOGO. The most important Para in the report that justifies the PSC regime in the hydrocarbon sector has been picked from the AOGO report. In Chapter 2.3, the Kelkar Committee report begins with a question, Are contractors incentivized to Gold Plate in PSC environment? In the following Para, the report justifies the PSC regime by arguing that no company would like to indulge in gold plating as it was not incentive-compatible as every dollar of unwarranted expenditure would need to be recovered from the project revenues and which would adversely impact contractor returns. This is from the AOGO report. The report goes on to say the Indian PSC regime was transparent and in such a transparent process, any investor who assumes gold plating in his bid would not be able to offer competitive terms and will not ab-initio not win. Hence there is no incentive for a profit maximising firm to gold-plate under a PSC framework. Kelkar, however, justified this. We have acknowledged the associations and stakeholders in our report. AOGO and other corporates who have given their presentations are not terrorists that we cannot take up their views in our report, he said. But Kelkar in his acknowledgement doesnt say that hes quoting verbatim from the AOGO report. Instead, it reads: The Committee thanks AOGO and BCG for sharing with the committee the workings of the detailed Monte Carlo simulation of Indian basins and data related to 1,132 fields respectively. The analysis of the data and the findings are however carried out by the committee itself. Now the question is if Kelkar Committee analysed all data, why did it report verbatim from the AOGO report? The CAG had pulled up the petroleum ministry for offering production sharing contract (PSC) to RIL and losing out revenue as the contract allowed incentive for higher capital expenditure. The CAG report said PSCs between the government and operators were designed to encourage increasing capital expenditure by private contractors, which reduces the governments share. Under the PSC regime, the contractor first recovers his expenditure before sharing profit. This gives an incentive to oil and gas explorers to not control expenditure while developing a block. Most developed nations do not follow the PSC regime and instead choose revenue sharing model. The UPA government is accused of bowing down to RIL pressure and approving a 100% increase in the price of natural gas in the country. The Kelkar Committees report is pitched against another report prepared by a committee, headed by economist and PMs economic advisor C Rangarajan. While Kelkar batted for PSC, Rangarajan proposed a revenue sharing regime with the operator company.
